My entry to a league fan contest to draw a support/mage concept based off of water called Myst. Maybe she would've been more interesting with shorter hair... but meh. This gave me enough headaches. XD;

I wish they had actually made her into a character. That would be too cool.

Even though we have Nami for a watery Support i would still play this one. A hero that has a wave she moves around on, would be awesome.

She looks a lot like sona, that could be the biggest reason why she didn't win but still an amazing piece. A weapon would have been great, maybe a horn that calls the water she rides on to shoot out a stream of water at the enemy... Oh well it is only art concept not a whole character concept and it is still amazing.

1 - I did win the contest (and the $100 prize money, heehee)

2 - This isn't my champion. I merely came up with a design for someone else's concept. XD;;;

3 - In my opinion, she looks nothing like Sona. Sona's most distinctive features are her pigtails, four trailing ribbons, and floating motion. Myst clearly has legs (thighs) and her skirt splits to reveal them. Her hair is not done in pigtails, and she doesn't have massive boobs.

4 - Myst was done before Nami was announced.

Sona has legs you know. And yes this character does look a lot like Sona. Apart from tattoos and a slight shade different with the hair they do look similar. Just saying you can see her legs and that she is surrounded by water doesn't mean they don't look a like. All you need to do is add her instrument and you have a sona skin right there. Not to be an ass at all, this can also be a compliment at how good this could be for a sona skin! Which i would by almost instantly.

And congrats on the prize! It is worth the prize certainly.

I'm sorry, but when the major distinguishing features are different (lack of an instrument, pigtails, four ribbons,) the facial appearances which you can barely see and the long skirt (which Morgana and Karma also have) does not define differences. If you think in terms of 3D model design, they will indeed look very different in both motion and in personality. Sona has an air of serenity, usually associated with her 'gentle smile' while Myst has a mixture of quiet curiosity and contemplation, so her model will show her low self-esteem.

If you take a look at the first concept sketch, you'd understand their larger differences: [link]

And what i am saying is, it looks vaguely familiar to Sona. I have linked this to nearly everyone i play LoL with and nearly every one thought it was a Sona fan art. That is nearly over 100 people who thought it was Sona, and only a few who thought it was concept of a new character.

Look i agree her one KEY feature is missing, her weapon. But the rest isn't in EVERY design of her. There are many characters who have skins that look nothing like their base model.

So to me and many others, this looks like Sona without her instrument and not floating with tattoos and playing with water.

If you need me to give you proof of what people think i can give it. Either you take the fact that it to a lot of people, it looks like Sona without her darn hair did up with ribbons and weapon or you can keep up this defensive wall up.

I like it, that should be enough for you.

They think that because fan art is more likely when you label something 'League' and draw it. Original concepts can come from things other than league, meaning when you say 'league' the first assumption is 'fan art' or 'skin concept' because it's much harder to relate it to League if the concept is completely original. That is to say you find the person of the closest resemblance and attach it. Reason: humans feel uncomfortable unable to categorize things so they mentally stick things inside boxes with labels whether they want to or not.

Tell me just what part of her looks like Sona because I see basically no resemblance except for the long dress. It's not enough for me that you 'like it,' because plenty of people will like it and not give a damn about it in the future. What I care about are reasons. Otherwise, how do I improve, right? "This looks like Sona without her instrument and not floating with tattoos and playing with water," to me, basically means "This isn't Sona." Similarly, Diana and Syndra both wear armor and have long, white hair. If you don't show their weapons, doesn't Syndra just look like Diana in Ionian armor with crescent moon horns and happens to float?

Because the standard for professional work exists in that manner, your current logic doesn't connect for me and I would like to understand in greater detail how you reason this for future reference. Sorry for the bother.
